The 3rd IEEE VTS Connected & Autonomous Vehicles Summer School @ WPI will be held on 20-21 August 2018 at the WPI Seaport campus, 303 Congress St, Boston, MA, USA.

The objective of this annual summer school is to provide fundamental concepts that enable connected and autonomous vehicle technologies. Presentations will be made by world renowned experts in both the connected vehicles and autonomous vehicles domains.



  • Foundational theory, supporting technology, and current challenges in reliable wireless inter-vehicle connectivity as well as connectivity between vehicles and roadside infrastructure.
  • Foundational theory, supporting technology, and the current challenges in vehicle autonomy.
  • Interdisciplinary research in wireless connectivity and vehicle autonomy, towards a holistic perspective of future connected and autonomous vehicular platforms.


This 2-day event will consist of a sequence of six lectures given by world-renowned experts in the areas of connected vehicles and autonomous vehicles.  Coffee breaks, brainstorming sessions, and lunch sessions will help facilitate additional discussions amongst event attendees and between attendees and lecturers.

Intended Audience

Industry practitioners interested in developing skill sets in connected and autonomous vehicle technologies.  Graduate students who are planning to conduct research in the areas of connected vehicles and/or autonomous vehicles.  Faculty interested in investigating connected vehicles and/or autonomous vehicles.
